After slipping into the hands of Lenovo, Motorola has unleashed some exquisite smartphones in the low-to-mid-end category. The company has delivered with Moto E, G and X, but this time, it has a new offering with special focus towards durability.
Combined with Lenovo’s masterclass, Motorola has introduced a new edition of modular flagships touted as Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The new beauties introduced by the company not only bring cool mods, but also incorporate a prolific set of specs under-the-hood. They are the sassiest phones ever launched by Motorola and are pitting straight against the likes of Galaxy S7 and LG G5.
While they both look equally cool and impressive, the “Force” variant brings a stronger build. The device features Motorola’s shatterproof technology and boasts an unbreakable display just like the recent Moto X Force. It combines design with durability and boasts all qualities of a dream flagship.
If you’re wondering what more you get with this beast, well, here it is:
Super-Strong Profile
Looking at Moto Z Force, the first thing that catches our attention is its spectacular build and adorable design language. Motorola has given serious efforts to craft this device and has done exceptionally well in the end. The company has used highly durable aircraft-grade aluminium and stainless steel to add the required strength and has also given Gorilla Glass 4 protection on the front and back panel.
Moto Z Force isn’t the thinnest of the lot, but the device bears a respectable profile and fits nicely in one hand. All of its modular accessories latch into the back which features a textured finish and is really commendable compared to the dull LG G5 rear. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the front panel, and is quite fast as well.
On whole, this phone looks complete and very premium. It has the dash of perfection and fine aesthetics that you don’t find on most high-end phones. It’s available in White and different variants of Black mixed with Gold, Rose Gold, and Gray.
But don’t worry about the colours as there are customized backs or “Style Shells” to embrace your experience. As touted by Motorola, these backs will come in finishes ranging from wood and leather to plastic!
Visual Experience with Sublime strength
Moto Z Force also brings an exemplary viewing experience. The handset packs a meticulously crafted Quad-HD Super AMOLED display and delivers detailed visuals with enhanced pixel count, perfect viewing angles and rich colour-tones. It follows the routine size of 5.5-inches but makes an enticing package for gamers and movie-buffs. The output appears true-to-life and adapts nicely in different environments, even in broad daylight.
But, the big thing is its enormous strength. Moto Z Force brings enhanced durability with company’s highly touted shatterproof technology. It keeps the screen from breaking into pieces even if it falls on a rugged surface or is thrown intentionally. This is the same technology that showed up earlier this year with Moto X Force.
Performance at its best
For best performance, Moto Z Force deploys Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 820 with 4GB RAM and Adreno 530 graphics. The handset packs a strong punch in the high-end market and delivers a slick user-experience with advanced 64-bit capabilities. It handles heavy usage nicely and keeps lags and heating glitches at bay.
Moto Z Force comes in 32 and 64GB avatars with an additional card slot offering support up to 256GB. It boasts sufficient room for all your files, docs, and apps and is pulling off exact innards as we’ve seen on HTC 10, LG G5, Asus Zenfone 3, ZTE Azon 7 and the US versions of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
The Power of Modules
Motorola has a lot on offer, but it’s mind-boggling MotoMods are the coolest thing of the day. As seen on Moto Z, the Force also uses the same modules that upgrade battery, improve audio experience and create an immersive visual experience. These clip-on accessories latch into the back and bring major hardware upgrades resulting in a more power smartphone experience. The company is still working on these accessories, but the technology is open to all and is sure to get further upgrades in coming days.
Among the three available mods, the Moto Z projector makes a mini portable projector and produces smartphone content on the big screen, the JBL speaker system upgrades audio experience pumps the music, and the battery modules add 2600 mAh into the existing power capacity.
Camera Performance
Moto Z Force packs a super cool camera setup with a 21-megapixel rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The device delivers punchy and vivid shots with fine details and works perfectly in low-light environments. Its main camera incorporates f/1.8 aperture with PDAF and OIS, and captures every moment without any shakes. It ensures zero shutter lags and focus delays and pairs up nicely the clutter-free camera app from Motorola.
Even the front-facing camera has a nice set of options. It comes with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4um big pixels for performing seamlessly in low-light.
In a nutshell, these 5 features make Moto Z Force one of the finest smartphones of the year. The launch of this handset is still on the wait list in India, but we expect to see either of the two siblings (Moto Z and Moto Z Force) in next few months.
After having an immaculate Moto X family, Motorola aims for new heights with the modular Z Force. It is still too early to form opinions about this beauty, but seeing these features we expect a tremendous response from buyers and tech-buffs in India. It’s not as thin as its all-metal counterpart and has a camera bump on the back, but the superb processing power, shatterproof display, and Motomods make up for everything else.
We’ll have more on Moto Z Force in our full review, highlighting its key pros and cons. Stay tuned!
