Rumor Roundup: Lumia 940, Lumia 940 XL, Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Xbox One Mini and SmartBand 2

Microsoft is set to unveil latest range of Windows phones to replace the 2014 lineup, that is long overdue for upgrades. According to Chinese blog WPDang, the 940 and 940 XL will replace 930 as well as the 930 XL respectively. The 940 and 940 XL will be the first Windows device releasing with Gen Windows Phone 10 OS right out of the box. Both the devices will be powered by different OS, that is Snapdragon 808 and 810 processors. It includes 20MP cameras with Lumia Pureview technology and removable 3000 mAh batteries.

Apart from the smartphones, the company is also set to launch Surface Pro 4. At the IDF conference in San Francisco, Intel demonstrated the use of voice recognition on Windows PCs, that switch instantly to the desktop home screen. The Surface Pro 4 probably releasing with Intel’s latest Gen Skylake processors that focus on delivering more performance and battery life compared to Intel’s last Gen devices.

The treats from Microsoft don’t end here. The Microsoft Smartband 2 that was announced in June 2014 is hopefully releasing in next few days. Subsequently, Smartband 2 technical specification has been leaked, but the image leaks point to be an improved design and better aesthetics overall. The fitness tracker will allow users to monitor all their activities. And the device can also double up as a notification center and music remote for smartphones.

A new console from Microsoft is also under work. A smaller and more compact, code named as ‘Xbox One Mini’. The new console will be a compact version of the current Gen Xbox One and it is expected to be Mini version. The Xbox One Mini will not support Blu-ray playback functionality like its bigger brother, but it will create a niche market for people who want to experience quality console gaming at a cheaper up-front cost. All of these devices will be a part of Microsoft’s holiday catalogue announcement in October.
