Verizon LG G3 gets an Android Lollipop firmware update rather than Marshmallow (6.0)

Marshmallow update is up ahead, all Android based Smartphones and tablets lined up to receive marshmallow firmware. Google partnership with Huawei and LG to release Marshmallow powered two new Nexus Smartphones. We heard lots of rumors and speculation on Nexus features.

Later on, all rumors turned into true after launch. Talking about the Marshmallow operating system, the company redesigned to bring new features and enhancement in hardware. Soon after the Nexus launch, Huawei listed 12 devices to get Marshmallow firmware by the end of this month. Google not only unlocked Marshmallow update in Huawei, but also reached many other brand Smartphones. Previously, we added LG G3 and G4 to the latest Android firmware update list.

On the other end, Verizon LG G2 remains on 5.0.2 version without any future update. Luckily, they unlocked OTA firmware update (5.1.1) to LG G3. The new update mainly brings few improvement and bug fixes, so it can get Marshmallow in the future. Once you update to latest version, the built-in number change to VS98535B. Unlike other Smartphones, this firmware caries Stagefright 1.0 and Stagefright 2.0 bug fixes. Basically, Lollipop 5.1.1 includes bug fixes and enhancement in performance. The new firmware weighs 353MB, so it’s better to clear space in internal phone storage. Make sure that, you already took a backup of contacts, messages and media files. Always choose Wi-Fi options for internet, while downloading update files.

Step to check for the updates:

Home screen>setting>about phone>check for the updates

(It might take 10-15 min to check for new firmware. If it is available, you get the notification to update device)

Like other devices, the device would skip Android 5.1.1 update and jump to Marshmallow. We are still confused, why Verizon rolled out Lollipop 5.1.1 rather than Marshmallow.

Many users already updated marshmallow in LG G3 and finds battery issues. We can expect one more update that brings bug fixes in the coming days. Stay connected and share your experience in the comment section below. We look forward for updates on Marshmallow firmware.
