Only 10 days left for the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced that updates for Windows 10 Home users is mandatory and there will be no option to turn the updates off. The product comes with a clause in the EULA (End User License Agreement), which says the “By accepting this agreement, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice.”
In the month of January, Microsoft vice president Terry Myerson, claims about Windows 10 is a service, which brings out a question for the life for the upcoming Microsoft release. Now unanswered question has been solved as Microsoft has unveiled a sheet that confirms us that “every Windows product has a life cycle”. It says, similar to the previous released, Windows 10 will receive a mainstream support till 2020, and extended support till 2025.
The mainstream support will mainly refer to the support that the company adds a vital revision to the operating system and the extended support will offer updates such as security updates, reliability updates and so on. For example, Windows XP mainstream support ended in the month of April 2009, and extended support expired on last spring, and makes the OS at the risk of security transgressions.
These information seems enough for the users to think twice before they upgrade to Windows 10, and Microsoft Writes as
“a device may not be able to receive updates if the device hardware is incompatible, lacking current drivers, or otherwise outside of the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) support period.”
According to the fact sheet by Microsoft, till October 13, 2020 Windows 10 will receive mainstream support from the Microsoft and on October 14, 2025 the extended support for the product will be ended. Microsoft mentioned the dates at very earliest; also the company will cease its support for the forthcoming operating system. Depending upon the next rendition of Windows, the date might be extended in the future, says The Tech Report.
