Apple Inc. to unveil a refreshed Beats Music on Monday

After Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) displayed a corporate bravado in purchasing Beats Music for $3 billion that also received much public attention, Beats Music deal hardly sustained any limelight thereafter. According to the reports, Apple will be unveiling a new refreshed Beats Music with a different kind of subscription plans, for the first time.

Apple’s big bang flash entry into the world of streaming came at a time when Pandora and Spotify were almost sure of their domination. Around the time of Apple’s acquisition of Beats Music, Pandora’s stock had nearly doubled itself over a period of one year and Spotify was preparing for an IPO. Apple was seen as a real threat to the comfortable dominance enjoyed by the twin streaming sites.

It was widely speculated that Apple’s iTunes Radio and Beats Music would come together to create an online streaming experience that would leave the competition far behind much the same way as it happened for Apple’s competitors in other product categories. However, despite nearly 10 months since then, nothing really has moved from Apple when it comes to entering the online streaming space so far.

That is set to change after Apple suggested that it will make an announcement at this year’s Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) which is expected to be conducted between the 8th and 12th of June, 2015. Apple may announce the integration of Beats Music with its iTunes Radio which is still trying to recover from birth pangs.

It has been reported that Apple intended to go against its traditional premium pricing philosophy in order to dislodge the incumbent giants in the music streaming market.

However, Apple’s licensing entanglements with record labels’, whose music libraries were sought to be used, has scuttled any such plans to offer a free streaming service. It is expected that Apple may still compete with Pandora on the pricing front alone by focusing on a subscription based model that charges only $9.99 every month.
